Astronomical hiking week by night with photography

Welcome to a new weekly offer in the ‚First Star Village‘ of Collepietra and San Valentino.
We are especially looking forward to offering you unforgettable hours with our hobby astronomer and astrophotographer Steffi Wolters. Experience galactic adventures during three night hikes around the star village and learn how to take photographs at night.

  • Monday, 17 April 2023 at 9.00 pm:
    Meeting point on the Laurinterrasse near the Steinegg parish church. Easy hike via the Ministernenweg, over the Pstosser Bühl with open-air photo exhibition to the Hotel Steineggerhof, where you can observe and photograph the wonderful starry sky on the roof terrace.
    Walking time: 1 h | Ascent: 89 m | Descent: 89 m | Distance: 1 km
  • Tuesday, 18 April 2023 at 9.00 pm:
    Departure from Steinegg by bus to the observatory Max Valier in Obergummer and hike around the observatory with observation and photography
    Walking time: 3 h | Ascent: 50 m | Descent: 50 m | Distance: 5 km
  • Wednesday, 19 April 2023 at 9.00 pm:
    Departure from Steinegg by bus to the Karersee (lake), there circular walk with observation and photography.
    Walking time: 3 h | Ascent: 53 m | Descent: 90 m | Distance: 6.5 km
  • Friday, 21 April 2023 at 9.30 am:
    Departure from Steinegg by bus to the Planetarium Südtirol in Gummer, presentation of the starry sky over South Tyrol and then hike along the path of the stars to Gasthaus Unteregger. Possibility for lunch there, followed by observation in the Peter Anich solar observatory.

For the hiking week, surefootedness, good hiking boots and warm hiking clothes are a prerequisite. Headlamps are provided by the tourist office.
For night photography, everyone can bring their own equipment, but a tripod is absolutely necessary,
even if you only want to take night photos with a good mobile phone.

The participation costs 140,00 € per person; This includes the hiking guide, the bus rides and the rental of the headlamps.
